About The Scholarships
The Dave Fons Memorial Fund is proud to offer Trucking Education Scholarships to eligible individuals pursuing commercial driver’s license training in the State of Florida.
Applicants may attend any eligible Florida CDL training provider that is listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Training Provider Registry and meets all applicable federal and state licensing requirements.
Scholarship awards are intended to help cover eligible tuition and required training expenses. Award amounts may vary based on demonstrated financial need, program cost, available funding, and the applicant’s commitment to completing the program and beginning a career as a safe, responsible commercial driver.

Scholarship Criteria
The Dave Fons Memorial Fund Trucking Education Scholarships will be awarded to qualified applicants attending an eligible CDL training provider located in the State of Florida.
Applicants must:
- Be accepted into, enrolled in, or actively completing the enrollment process for an eligible Florida CDL training program.
- Attend a training provider listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s Training Provider Registry and meeting all applicable federal and Florida licensing requirements.
- Demonstrate a financial need for scholarship assistance.
- Make a good-faith commitment to complete the training program, obtain the applicable commercial driver’s license, and pursue employment as a commercial driver.
- Make a good-faith commitment to follow industry safety standards, laws, and best practices throughout their driving career.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of truck safety and a willingness to participate in continuing safety education when opportunities are available.

Scholarship awards are subject to available funding and approval by the Dave Fons Memorial Fund. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the approved training provider and may be used only for approved tuition and required training expenses. Submission of an application does not guarantee an award.
